My hood caused Lady's double-take

LADY GOING IN AFTER A WALK
I was walking Lady tonight, and I had a memory from maybe 10 years ago (we've had her for more than 13 years).

Anyway, I was walking with my hood up tonight; it was cold. That night long ago, I was walking Lady down the lane from us, and I put my hood up.

Lady casually turned and DID A DRAMATIC DOUBLE TAKE! She actually jumped in the air and rotated to where she was facing me. I laughed and said, "It's only me, Lady." She visibly relaxed when she heard the voice, turned and headed home.

Fortunately, she didn't turn and see my hood tonight. I wonder if she'd have reacted.

NOTE: Lady passed on Sept. 17, 2016, a date that still hurts me.

An open gate at the dog park

LADY AT THE DOG PARK
Something scary happened yesterday at the dog park. If you don't go to dog parks, it probably won't mean anything to you. But it did to me.

I noticed that Lady was standing in the "wrong" area near the gate. There's a main gate to enter, then there's an entrance in front of you and an exit to the left. They have three gates so that people won't have two gates open at one time, which is bad.

Wind had opened the exit gate, and Lady had walked into the "foyer" between the gates.

If someone had opened the front gate right then, she probably would have walked right out into the parking lot.

I was startled, but, fortunately, I got to her before that could happen. No harm done.

Note: Lady passed on Sept. 17, 2016.
