LINKS TO DOGS GETTING OUT

LADY COULD BE AN ESCAPE ARTIST

Lady, above, figured out how to open the door to the basement so she could go outside. She'd raise up on her hind legs so she could reach the door knob with her mouth, and she'd turn it.

She also jumped over our back fence so she could play with other dogs. We had to get someone to add several inches of wiring to the top of our wooden fence; then she couldn't jump it.

So she found other ways to get out.

Then we put a cage outside the dog door so she couldn't get out.

But it didn't always work. She probably got out 20 times in 14 years.

Below, you'll find more escape artists. Enjoy!

Dixie got loose again

DIXIE BEFORE WE ADOPTED HER
I don't write about Dixie much because we don't get out much. I keep writing about her getting loose, and she did it again today.

I hooked her to a 45-foot line and let her out in the yard. But when I came back outside, her empty harness was hooked to the line.

I got in my car and drove around the neighborhood until I found Dixie in someone's yard. She wouldn't come to me (she thought it was a game), but another neighbor showed up to help. She's having trouble getting around after a hip replacement, so she couldn't catch Dixie, either. Fortunately, the woman of the house came out with her dog, grabbed Dixie and brought her to my car.

So I took her home. I told her that she's a pain in the butt, but I was relieved to get her back.
