Scottie may make it after all

THIS IS A MEMORY FROM BEFORE SCOTTIE GOT SICK.
I may have been premature in mourning our collie Scottie last night. When we took him to the vet today, the vet immediately said that Scottie appears dizzy, which may explain his not eating, his clumsiness, and his lying down and staying there.

They medicated him today, and he was eating a bit. They're keeping him overnight, and he may be OK. We'll find out Wednesday.

I am still fearful but tremendously hopeful.

P.S.: The vet held Scottie on Wednesday. We'll pick him up Thursday.

He walked a little bit (unsteadily, but he walked), the vet said. And he ate a bit.

P.P.S.: Scottie's home, but he's heavily medicated. We had to help him in — he showed no inclination toward walking — and he's unresponsive. It saddens me, but I'll hold out hope.

P.P.S.: Scottie sat up a bit this morning. I got him to drink some water, and my wife give him some beef broth. He took a few licks of it, then went back to sleep.

The best thing, I think, is that he looked interested, and he had a doggie smile for a little while.

P.P.S.: Scottie was put to sleep today. He was too weak and wasn't getting better. I'll write more later.
