A weighty matter for Dixie

DIXIE HAS PUT ON SOME WEIGHT.
MY BIGGEST WORRY with Dixie is her weight. She was about 16 pounds, six ounces when they got her at the Forsyth Humane Society. She was 19 pounds, four ounces a few days or weeks later when we weighed her at the vet's office.

I don't know what Dixie weighs now, but she's turned into a little butterball. She's still active, but she constantly begs for food; and we feed her. When I'm a little stingy with food, she cries and gets fed.

I'm worried that the extra weight will be hard on that single leg in the back.

There IS one funny thing about Dixie. When the leash gets tangled with that leg, Dixie will hop over the leash and keep on going. She has a limp, of course, but she seems amazingly agile for a three-legged dog.

Even one with a little extra weight.

NOTE: She was 27.9 pounds at the vet's office last week. (A few months later, she weighed in at 27.3 pounds; small progress.)
