Lady played, but Dixie? Not so much

LADY ROLLING JOYOUSLY IN A NEIGHBOR'S YARD.
You'd expect a two-plus year-old dog like Dixie to play now and then, but, most of the time, she doesn't. She ran a little bit yesterday when I put her out in the yard, and she might chew on something a bit.

Sometimes, I'd stamp my foot, and Lady would happily run around me in intricate and erratic patterns. She was playing.

But while our Lady would run, play with toys, chew chewies, roll in the grass and dig in the yard, Dixie doesn't. She loves to roll on her back, but I wonder if that's just Dixie trying to get her harness off. When Lady rolled in the grass (or dirt), you could see true joy in her face and movements.

Maybe it's a beagle thing and a mutt thing. Lady, a mutt, loved to play; Dixie, a beagle, not so much.
