Brutus and other big dogs

In 1973, I was working for a furniture store, and we were delivering to a house.

I stepped through the door, and a gigantic dog confronted me. He was obviously a Great Dane, and then they told me he was a 198-pounder named Brutus.

I was a big young man with a beard, and Brutus jumped up and put his front paws on my shoulders. He was trying to lick my beard, and I was trying to hold this muscular giant off with both hands; no luck.

Brutus got tired of dominating me, so a kid (maybe 10 or 11 years old) put a bridle on Brutus and rode him up and down the stairs like an agile horse.

That was one heck of a dog. And we didn't break any furniture, either.
