DIXIE'S HARNESS

MY WIFE JUST EMAILED
me a photo of our beagle Dixie, and I was confused. Dixie's harness was down around her butt, but I learned that was the point.

It wasn't supposed to be that far down Dixie's body, and Holly didn't know how it get there.

It was strange seeing a photo of Dixie without her head in the shot.

Oops! Sometimes Dixie beats me out the door

DIXIE'S QUICK DESPITE A MISSING LEG
Dixie, like most dogs, doesn't realize she must be hooked up to a line (or leash) to go outside.

Today, I was going to put her outside on her line, and she followed me right out the door. I hollered "No!", and she stopped and laid down. Then I hooked her up and put her outside.

It's not unusual for dogs to do that. Lady walked past me a couple of times before I could hook her up, and I remember a dog beating its owner (not me) out the gate at the dog park. That dog gave its owner a merry chase around the parking lot.

The nice thing is that Dixie generally Dixie listens to me. So far, she's come back when she's beaten my wife or me out the door.

• Woof! (translation: Go away, kid; you bother me)
