LADY WAS OUT AND HAVING FUN. (FILE PHOTO) |
When we returned from the dog park, I put Lady out into the backyard with a bowl of water, and I set my watch to come back in a half hour. When I did, Lady was gone!
I looked everywhere — near the cage, around the shed and near the shrubs — and no Lady. I told my wife Holly, and I went out looking for her. As I drove, I felt mounting panic. I didn't know what I'd do without Lady.
When I came back, I looked for her again, and I noticed that Holly had taken my RAV 4 to look for her.
I went out in our newly-bought Scion xB, and almost immediately came across a distressing scene. The RAV was parked beside a neighboring yard, and Holly was lying beside the car. Lady was in a nearby yard, looking for a cat.
Three neighbors were there as well, and they caught Lady and helped Holly get up.
I took Lady home (just across the cul-de-sac) in the xB, and Holly drove home in the RAV. Later, I took Holly's broken glasses to the eye doctor to get them fixed, and Holly recovered from her bumps and bruises.
Lady? She's at home, cool and collected after today's trip to the dog park. She better watch out, though; I think Holly's still mad at her.
