A really short walk with Lady

LADY'S GETTING SKITTISH IN HER OLD AGE. (FILE PHOTO)
Lady and I didn't go to the dog park Sunday, so I thought we might take a short walk in the neighborhood after dark.  We'd just left the car port when Lady turned around. I tried to pull her down the driveway, and she went a few feet with me.

But then she heard something around the house — it sounded like the gutter cracking above the front door — and she headed back again.

She's done it before. There was a doe (a deer, a female deer) in our front yard the other day, and she may have smelled it or a relative. Or several relatives.

Anyway, we didn't take a walk. She's lying at my feet as I write this.
