Scary walk in Wilmington

In the 1980s, I was walking along Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington, N.C. The street level was a couple feet lower than the small, fenced-in yard beside it.

I didn't notice that a Doberman Pinscher was around the side of the house.

I must have been daydreaming when that Doberman came around there and started roaring in my ear! It scared me to death; that evil-looking dog was inches away from my face.

No one came out to get the dog. It kept growling and snarling at me as I walked away from it ... as fast as I could.

I never walked down that road again.
