Herding instinct

At least 10 years ago, my wife Holly and I were at the Dixie Classic Fair, and we were outside, watching two border collies herd geese. The birds ran to and fro, flapping their wings, with the dogs running around back and forth, keeping the birds in line.

After the exhibition, I looked around and saw the dogs "herding" a few children, with the kids running to and fro and waving their arms, just as the geese had flapped their wings.

That didn't last long, though, as the dogs' handlers quickly pulled them away and the kids' parents grabbed them.
