SHE WAS LACY THEN; NOW, SHE'S DIXIE. |
First, Dixie started growling and snarling at dogs through the fence. Then, a woman brought three little dogs into the little-dog side, and Dixie went nuts with growling and snarling every time a dog got near her.
So I could see real negatives taking her to the vet's office.
Naturally, the resident greeter, a large, gray cat, was standing in front of the front door. I feared a confrontation, but the cat wasn't interested, and Dixie didn't respond. I let the cat in first, then we followed. Dixie spent the next hour or so charming everyone there. And she got along with cats in the cages and with dogs on the floor or in someone's arms.
She was even stoic during a rectal example, although she yiped loudly (and made me jump) when she got a shot.
She was a good girl, but she was tired. She wasn't even interested in our usual evening walk (we did, however, walk today before noon).
I'm hopeful she'll do OK the next time we go to the dog park.
(She's done just fine in subsequent trips to the dog park; fingers crossed.)
